The Christmas Gift

A group of friends decided to catch up over a coffee and lunch meal. We met in the mall and quickly decided to go to the coffee shop next door. Smiles all over our faces as we hadn’t seen each other in months and enjoyed the comradarie.

We sat down and ordered our morning teas, coffees and iced chocolates. One person asked everyone “Am I the only one who’s buying food?” She asked again and repeatedly asked another time. Someone ordered some more food.

The orders came out after sometime and everyone shared coffee, sandwiches and wraps along with drinks. No one needed anything more.

It was time to leave and say goodbyes. I went to pay for my drink and the cafe worker said “The whole table has been paid.”

The gift of Christmas is in the giving and nothing more. Cheesy as it sounds, its said that  a modern day world is so inward looking. More people need to give the way the woman at my table did.

Which leaves the question. How do I give this Christmas?
